Designed to meet the most
demanding customer environments, the S8710 Media
Server introduced a more powerful processor, increased storage
and optical drive capacity, higher speed USB 2.0 interfaces, and a
higher performance server duplication interface, while retaining
the 2U vertical form factor of the existing S8700 platform. As a
result, the S8710 delivers at least a 25% improvement in BHCC (Busy
Hour Call Completion) over the S8700 Media Server.
What's New With This ReleaseThe S8710 introduces a more powerful processor, increased storage and optical drive capacity, higher speed USB 2.0 interfaces, and a higher performance server duplication interface. The S8710 Media Server (introduced with CM 2.2) uses an Intel Xeon server. Both server types run Linux Operating System. The S8700/S8710/S8720 Media Server can be sold in two configurations, Multi Connect and IP Connect. The Multi Connect configurations utilize either ATM or Center Stage Switch (CSS) for a bearer Port Network Connectivity (PNC) and use the MCC1 and SCC1 Media Gateways. The IP Connect configuration utilizes an IP network for a bearer PNC and uses the G650 Media Gateway. Both Multi Connect and IP Connect configurations support the G700, G350, and G250 Media Gateways with or without Local Survivable Processor (LSP) for remote locations.
