What's New With This ReleaseThe S8400 Media Server provides midsize enterprises with a cost-effective solution to support up to five media gateways and multiple locations. It also supports software for voice messaging, fax messaging, auto attendant and other applications. Coincident with Communication Manager 5.1, Avaya will introduce the follow-on server to S8400. When released, the S8400B will be supported on Communication Manager 4.0.3, Communication Manager 5.x, and later releases. The S8400B server is very similar to the existing S8400 (A) with the following exceptions: - The S8400B comes from the factory with 1 GB of DRAM and a 4 GB SSD installed. The S8400 (A) server comes from the factory with 512 MB of DRAM and a 2 GB SSD installed.
- The S8400B has a SATA (Serial ATA) hard drive and associated SATA interface hardware onboard. The S8400 (A) has the older style ATA hard drive and interface hardware. From an end user’s prospective, both drives are functionally equivalent but each type requires its own special software driver.
- There is no additional capacity or functionality in Communication Manager 5.1
